Preface
Red Cross is the oldest, largest & most trusteds International Humanitarian organization which is working with its ideology of Seven Fundamental Principles like Humanity, Impartiality, Neutrally, Independence, Voluntary Service, Unity and university. The Youth of today are the future citizens of tomorrow. The Youth Red Cross is acting as the right wing of Indian Red Cross Society, Odisha State Branch (IRCS, OSB) to inculcate the spirit of volunteerism & fostering human values in the young minds of Youth Red Cross Volunteers so that they can minimize & alleviate the human sufferings in the society.
The objective of YRC +3 wing is to invigorate humanitarian principles and values among the young student volunteers and to aware the public/students/staffs through various programs such as:
On 07.06.2023, we organised a Blood Donation Camp for Bahanaga Train Accident victims.
A complete health check-up program was organised on 26.08.2023 in collaboration with Bharat Masala Group, which was inaugurated by our principal Prof. Dr. Gayatri Biswal and co-ordinated by Dr. Gayatri Kar OIC, YRC , under supervision of Dr. Jayanta Kumar Panda(Prof. Medicine, SCB Medical College, Cuttack) and his team.
On 26.09.2023, we organised Hepatitis B 2nd Dose Vaccination program for the teaching, non-teaching and hostel staffs and students.
To commemorate the 9th anniversary of Swachh Bharat Mission , the YRC team undertook a cleanliness drive “Swachha Survekshna Program” on 1st October 2023 at 10 a.m. to make the campus “Garbage Free”.
We organised a Breast Cancer Awareness Programme on 18.10.203 (October being Breast Cancer Awareness Month) in collaboration with KRIAA Foundation, eminent Doctors from Acharya Harihar Cancer Hospital, Cuttack namely 1. Dr Prasanta Parida, Associate Prof. 2. Dr. Luci Pattanaik, Associate Prof. elaborated and illustrated in detail about the symptoms of breast cancer and created awareness among the students for health care and early detection.
The Principal Prof. Dr. Gayatri Biswal administered oath to the staffs and YRC volunteers of the college at “Utkal Sameelani Kashya” on 03.11.2023 to observe Vigilance Awareness week 2023.
The YRC +3 wing organised the “Odisha Startup Yatra-2023” in the auditorium on 04.11.2023 with the objective to make the students self-reliant and develop the spirit of entrepreneurship.
We observed the World AIDS Day in the college campus on 01.12.2023 and then YRC volunteers moved to Zilla Swasthya Samiti, Cuttack for participating in the World AIDS Day Observation there at.
The OIC YRC along with seven student volunteers participated Balijatra Social Service Camp organised by the Indian Red Cross Society on 04.12.2023.
The YRC +3 wing successfully organized the district level YRC Study cum Training camp of Cuttack District from 13th January 2024 to 15th January 2024. The 03-day event was participated by 150 volunteers and counsellors of the 30 colleges of Cuttack district.
Dr. Gayatri Kar, OIC YRC accompanied Miss Jharana Beura ( +3 2nd Year, Arts), who was selected for the State Level Study cum Training Camp organised by the Indian Red Cross Society, Odisha State Branch from 6th to 8th February 2024 at Nilachal Polytechnic, Pathargadia, Bhubaneswar.
An awareness program on HIV/AIDs was organised by YRC + 3 wing and Red Ribbon Club on 14.03.2024.
YRC +3 wing in collaboration with Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences ( KISS), Bhubaneswar organised a Skill Based Change makers programme of Govt. of Odisha for College Students on 23.03.2024.
The World Red Cross Day was observed on 08.05.2024 by the YRC volunteers.
